- - What is a squiggle?
NPR NPR stands for Non Photorealistic Rendering. The task is to produce an image that is some kind of abstract view rather than a true-to-life photograph. We use genetic programming to evolve programs which make a series of brush strokes on a canvas. After a period of evolution the series of strokes comes to resemble a target image. We have three approaches, each based on a different kind of brush stroke.

Brush strokes are black Bezier curves. Strokes can be thin (black pencil) or thick (black texta). Many animations start off looking like a mass of wriggling worms.
